Members of the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers’ Union, affiliated to CITU, on Monday staged a dharna at the Collector’s office demanding that the government increase gratuity for retired Anganwadis from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 2 lakh and for helpers from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 1 lakh and also pay 50 per cent of the last pay drawn as pension.

Union district president B. Pydiraju said the government had released an order sanctioning Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 20,000 as gratuity for Anganwadis and helpers respectively, who retired on August 31.
