A 40-year-old man identified as G. Srinivasa Rao, a daily wage worker in Visakhapatnam, went berserk in the early hours of Tuesday and allegedly attacked four persons, including three women, who were asleep at Ramabhadrapuram village in Jami mandal, with a blunt knife.

According to the police, the accused reportedly nursed a grouse against the four for denying money for purchasing liquor. He attacked K. Appa Rao, K. Appala Konda, N. Lakshmi, and K.V. Ratnam, who were asleep at 5 a.m., with a blunt knife and caused injuries on shoulders and palm.

Following an alarm raised by the injured, people gathered, overpowered Srinivasa Rao and handed him over to the police. Srinivasa Rao, who came to his native village for pongal, was reportedly in an inebriated condition.
