January 10, 2017 01:28 am | Updated 01:28 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court on Monday awarded three years’ imprisonment to Atluri Suresh Kumar, who floated a false company and cheated unemployed youth promising them jobs abroad.

The judge G. Satya Prabhakar Rao awarded jail term to the accused in nine cases. All the sentences imposed in the cases shall run concurrently, the judge ordered.

“The culprit has not signed on the receipts issued by Sun Consultancy after taking money; instead, made his clerical staff to sign on them. Suresh Kumar has deliberately cheated the youth and tried to make easy money,” the judge commented while delivering the judgement.

The accused started Sun Consultancy near Nirmala Convent Centre, under Patamata police station limits. He gave advertisements in some news papers promising placements with attractive salaries in reputed companies in Malaysia and Singapore.

Suresh Kumar collected some lakhs of rupees from B.Tech and Nursing students of different colleges. One fine day, he downed the shutters of the consultancy and absconded. As many as 30 students paid the amount to the company. The accused asked the victims to deposit the money in his accounts in HDFC and IDBI banks.

Following complaints, Patamata police registered cases, arrested the accused and took up investigation. Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Y. Satyavani argued the case.
