GUNTUR: Adulterated 2T oil worth Rs.18 lakh was seized by Quick Response Teams (QRT) by the Guntur urban police on Wednesday. The teams, led by Sarvashresth Tripathi, Superintendent of Police, raided a godown in Auto Nagar and seized 35 drums of recycled muddy oil.

The police said the godown owner has been buying muddy oil, which is collected after emptying engine oil of motorcycles at a cheaper rate between Rs.10 and Rs. 12 per litre and recycling it by using colour and chemicals.

The recycled oil is being sold in the market as 2T oil at a cost ranging between Rs.80-Rs.120. Mr. Tripathi said the raids would be intensified.
