50th rocket launch fete held at Sriharikota

A large number of space scientists, including the retired dignitaries, took part in the celebrations of the 50th rocket launch at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) located at Sriharikota in Nellore district here on Tuesday.

Special arrangements were made for the unique occasion with the scientists arriving from different centres of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from all over the country.

Addressing as the chief guest on the occasion, ISRO Chairman A.S. Kiran Kumar hailed the spirit of unity among the space scientists in the country that helped in reaping success after success in the space missions over the decades.

Mr. Kiran Kumar recalled his experiences over the years while working with many colleagues and seniors in the space fraternity. He said that the successful launch of the PSLV C-29 on December 16 marked the 50th space mission launch at the Sriharikota space centre and it was a matter of great celebration.

Artists from all over the country arrived at the space centre to give their performances at the unique celebrations at the ISRO centre here.

The special dance performances given by the artists from Kerala and Punjab enthralled the audience on the occasion.

The scientists and staff were spell bound by the flute recital rendered by SHAR director P. Kunhikrishnan.
