The Fijian police are investigating the cause of death of a man of Indian descent whose body was found floating in the Labasa River, a report said on Monday.

Some children of Wasavulu village in Fiji found the body while they were fishing in the river, Fiji Times Online quoted police spokesman Atunaisa Sokomuri as saying.

“The family of the deceased had lodged a missing report on Sunday,” he said.

To catch mud crabs

“According to family members, he was last seen going to catch mud crabs,” Mr. Sokomuri said.

The man’s body was kept at the Labasa hospital mortuary for post-mortem to determine the actual cause of his death.
