PPA chairman resigns

The Chairman of the Puducherry Planning Authority (PPA) K.S.P. Ramesh sent a resignation letter to Chief Minister N.Rangasamy following the registration of criminal case against him by police on charges of molesting a minor girl.

Last week, the police booked the criminal case against Mr. Ramesh, a ruling party functionary and chairman of the Puducherry Planning Authority, on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl. The victim was studying in class IX in a school run by the political functionary at Thattanchavady.

The Child Welfare Committee conducted an inquiry with the victim and recorded her statement.

It directed the D. Nagar police station to register a case against Ramesh.

The police have booked Ramesh under Section 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
