Namassivayam’s role very much recognised: Chinna Reddy

Size of Ministry to be decided by high command

May 30, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

All India Congress Committee secretary in-charge of Puducherry Chinna Reddy said that the services of the Pradesh Congress Committee president A. Namassivayam for the development of the party had been very much recognised by the high command.

Talking to reporters after meeting Mr. Namassivayam at his residence, Mr. Chinna Reddy denied any chaos or difference of opinion in the party over the selection of Mr. Narayanasamy as the Chief Minister.

The Ministry headed by Mr. Narayanasamy will be formed as soon as the Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi invites the Congress to form the Government.

The size of the Ministry and other details would be finalised by the high command in consultations with Mr. Narayanasamy, he said.

Mr. Namassivayam said that he abide by the decision of the high command and asked party cadres not to heed to rumours. It may be recalled that violence broke out after a section of Congress cadres went on a rampage protesting against the decision to make Mr. Narayanasamy as the CLP leader and the next Chief Minister of the Union Territory.

Mr. Namassivayam also abstained from a get-together of party MLAs on Saturday night and rumour mills were agog that he was disappointed with the high command over the manner of selection of the CLP leader.
