JIPMER obtains ISO certification

The Jawaharlal Institute of Post graduate Medical Education and Research has been awarded ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standards Management Certification from the American International Accreditation Organization – Bureau of Accredited Registrar (AIAO-BAR) and BMQR (Breakthrough Management Quality Registrar), said a release from the institute.

The process was initiated by Department of Plastic Surgery, JIPMER, it added.

JIPMER has ‘JIPMER Quality Council (JQC)’ to look after the various aspects of safety and quality care for patients, said the release.

Telemedicine facility for pilgrims

Following a recent meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on promoting space technology in governance and development at New Delhi, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has identified JIPMER as the nodal centre to provide remote health care over the telemedicine platform to pilgrims of the Ayyappa Temple, Sabarimala, Kerala, using space technology.

A Space Technology/Telemedicine Centre in Emergency Medical Services with dedicated specialist services round-the-clock will be set up under the leadership of Dr. S.C. Parija, Director, JIPMER, said a release from the institute.

Financial support and equipment will be supplied by ISRO and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

JIPMER has also been identified as the nodal centre to provide remote health care over the telemedicine platform to Sabarimala pilgrims
