Free archery training for all participants till Saturday

The JIPMER Students’ Association (JSA) tied up with Kuldeep Kumar Vedwan, Chief Coach and Director, Ashoka Archery Academy, to introduce all participants of Spandan 2016 to archery at JIPMER campus.

E. Santosh Tamilarasan, President, JSA, said that the training on archery was open for everyone participating in Spandan 2016. It will be held till Saturday.

Chief Coach Kuldeep Kumar Vedwan said that this was just an introductory session. “Many people do not know how to shoot. After the Olympics in Rio, students are seeking to learn archery. The session is from 9 am till 5.30 pm till Saturday,” he said.

In Alaap, the best solo performance went to Pondicherry University and Jain University bagged the best duet. While the best vocalist prize (male) went to Ajay Haridas of Pondicherry University, best vocalist prize (female) went to Praveena of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College and Pondicherry University team also bagged the best band prize.

On Thursday afternoon, ‘variety show’ was organised at the auditorium in JIPMER campus. Besides solo karaoke and mime, groups from different colleges performed street plays with a message. They enacted based on themes like ‘terrorism’ and ‘violence against women’.

The first place for solo competition in ‘variety show’ went to Santosh of Crescent Engineering College and Prinal of St John’s Medical College bagged the second place. KMC, Manipal, bagged the first place in the ‘group’ category of ‘variety show’ while SRM University took the second place.
