CPI (M) Puducherry unit secretary R. Rajangam has said there were reports that several irregularities had been committed in the Jipmer entrance examination and in the recruitment of nursing staff to the institution in the past. He demanded a CBI probe into it.
In a statement, Mr. Rajangam said, “It is shocking to see such reports and this would definitely reflect on the credibility of the prestigious institution.”
He said even though similar complaints were made regarding recruitment of nurses in the past, no action was taken.
The CPI (M) leader appealed to the government to procure 50 per cent of medical seats from private medical colleges for the admissions of government quota seats to be filled through Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC).
He also sought the government’s intervention to ensure the implementation of 25 per cent reservation to the students from UT in the admission.
Such reports would definitely reflect on the credibility of the prestigious institution.”
