A third decomposed body has been discovered in Vasai in almost a month but no arrests have been made in any of the cases.

Locals in Wakanpada, Vasai alerted police on Friday morning after finding the body of a woman floating in an overflowing ditch. The Valiv police sent the decomposed body for post mortem and a report is awaited. “We have also sent the viscera to Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory and for a DNA test to identify the woman’s body,” said Assistant Police Inspector Sunil Solase of Valiv police ststion.

“We buried the body at the site itself as it was highly decomposed and will exhume it after taking the permission of the Vasai tehsildar, post-identification,” he said.

The first body, that of an unidentified woman, was found in the jungles of Tungareshwar Bird Sanctuary in mid-June. The second body, that of a 22-to-25-year-old woman was found in the Vidya Vikasni school premises on July 3. The police suspected that she may have been raped and then murdered.
