The Bombay High Court on Monday stayed the trial against actor Sooraj Pancholi, charged for abetment of suicide of actor Jiah Khan in June 2013.

A vacation bench of Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice Shalini Phansalkar-Joshi stayed the trial till further hearing on June 7.

A special women’s court was hearing arguments in framing of charges against Pancholi.

Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan had moved HC against the investigation report by the CBI terming her daughter’s death as a suicide and not a homicide. Rabia Khan is seeking a special investigation team’s probe into her daughter’s death.

The State government had earlier sought charges of murder and rape to be levied upon Pancholi.
