Stating that the Congress has not received proposals from any other party for a mahagathbandhan for the Goa assembly elections due early in 2017, Mr Digvijay Singh, the All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of Goa on Saturday said the party was preparing itself to contest all 40 seats.
He said the party was in the process of preparing a charge sheet against BJP rule in Goa and by September, it will reach out to households across the state with the charge sheet as part of its election campaign.
He added that the Congress will also reach out to people with the failures of the Aam Admi Party(AAP) government in Delhi.
“We will tell people how their Delhi government has not fulfilled all election promises and expose corruption charges against their Ministers and MLAs. What he (Arvind Kejriwal) used to blame politicians for doing before coming to politics, he is doing exactly that now,” said Mr. Singh.
On Saturday, Mr. Singh chaired a meeting of the state Congress’s coordination committee which chalked out strategies for next year’s assembly elections.
“Block committees have been asked to give their opinions on (potential) candidates. The names would be then discussed by district committees,” Mr. Singh told reporters.
The AAP is also aiming to enter Goa in a big way through the assembly elections and Mr. Kejriwal recently toured the state and addressed public meetings.
The Congress has not received proposals from any other party for a grand alliance, and will go it alone
