Film writers’ association calls off pen-down strike

New MoU to be signed by October 14

October 04, 2015 11:20 pm | Updated 11:20 pm IST - MUMBAI:

The Film Writers Association (FWA) has withdrawn the pen-down strike launched on Saturday.

It has been six months since the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) submitted the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) stipulating the working contract for both parties, to the producers’ bodies, which they failed to acknowledge.

Negotiations were held late on Saturday night leading to an agreement.

“For the first time broadcasters Star, Sony, Zee, Viacom 18, along with their legal and commercial heads not only got involved in the negotiations but also gave a written commitment that they will intervene, facilitate and guarantee that the demands of FWICE members are accepted and implemented and that the new MoU will be signed on or before October 14,” said Manisha Korde, Joint Secretary, FWA.

“The detailed MBC [Minimum Basic Contract] will be discussed between the craft representatives and the producers and finalised during the meetings which will start from Monday. The new MoU will be signed by October 14.”
