Film screening: 36 Chowringhee Lane

As part of NCPA’s flashback screenings, 36 Chowringhee Lane, will be screened. The film revolves around Violet Stoneham and her lonely life in her single-room flat located at 36 Chowringhee Lane in Calcutta. She is visited by a former student, Nandita Roy, who brings her boyfriend and author Samaresh Moitra, to her flat. Moitra finds inspiration for his new novel here and decides to use the space to write. Written and directed by Aparna Sen, the cast includes Jennifer Kendal, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Debashree Roy, Geoffrey Kendal, and Sanjana Kapoor. Admission is free. Seating on a first come, first served basis.
