Suicide of girl: ragging alleged

July 25, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:03 am IST - Kozhikode:

A group of Students’ Federation of India (SFI) activists on Saturday took out a march to Malabar Higher Education Society (MHES) College, Thodannur, alleging that the college authorities had failed to prevent ragging on the campus.

They alleged that a second-year degree student of the college committed suicide on Friday following a suspected incident of ragging. They pelted stones at the college building and destroyed its glass windows. Meanwhile, college authorities said there was no incident of ragging on the campus leading to the death of any student and no complaint had been received in this regard. However, the relatives of the girl said she was a victim of ragging by her seniors. Payyoli police have registered a case and started investigation into the incident. — Staff Reporter
