A one-day workshop in connection with the setting up of a Child Rights Observatory was held at Shikshak Sadan in Kozhikode on Wednesday.
Inaugurating the workshop, district panchyaat president Kanathil Jameela said it was necessary for all departments to work together to protect the rights of children. She urged local bodies to make regular allocations for children.
Member of Kerala State Child Rights Commission Babu Narikkuni presided over the function.
He said that observatories were necessary to implement the welfare activities for children effectively.
Chairman of the District Voluntary Agencies K.P.U. Ali delivered the keynote address.
District probation officer Ashraf Kavil conducted a class on various laws for the protection of children.
Assistant project officer of the observatory Deepak Gopinath and nodal coordinator of Childline in Kozhikode Mohammed Ali spoke on the occasion.
Topics such as education, protection, health, and nutrition of children were discussed in the afternoon.
Representatives of police, teachers, social workers, school health nurses, vigilance committees, social work teachers, and media persons took part in the discussion, a press note issued here said.
