Youth held for burning flag

City Police on Monday arrested Dileepan Mahendran on charges of burning the Indian national flag, a picture of which had gone viral on the social media.

A senior official of the City Police said Dileepan Mahendran was detained by a special team in Royapettah.

The police also secured the cellphone of the person from which the image of the flag burning was posted on Facebook for further investigation.

The city police based on a complaint from an office-bearer of Hindu Makkal Munnani had filed a complaint under various Sections of the IPC. —staff reporter
