A 13-year-old girl was found hanging in her house in Manali on Friday night.

Pooja was in class VIII in a private school. Her father is a labourer and the family resides in CPCL Nagar, Manali. For the past few days, the school administration had allegedly been asking the girl to pay the tuition fees.

On Friday, she was not allowed to attend classes due to non-payment of fees. “In the evening, she told her father about it and he promised to pay the fees on Monday,” said the Manali police.

On Saturday morning, she was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her house. Her father lodged a complaint at the Manali police station and sought action against the teacher who sent her out of class, and the school principal.

Suicide prevention helpline, Sneha, can be contacted on 24640050.
