A Special Sub-Inspector rescued a 41-year-old man, Satish Kumar, who jumped into Porur Lake on Friday in a bid to commit suicide. Around 10 a.m, SSI A. Kothandan (56) and other policemen were on their routine rounds when they received a call from the control room about the incident. When they reached the spot, Mr. Kothandan saw a man struggling for his life.

“I jumped into the lake that is 20-feet deep and managed to reach him. I swam to the bridge’s pillar dragging him along,” he said. — Special Correspondent
