Police nab motorcycle thief, recover vehicle

Within half-an-hour of a motorcycle theft, police were able to arrest the thief and recover the vehicle in Valsaravakkam on Saturday.

A tip-off by the son of the owner of the vehicle, who called 100 immediately after hearing an unusual sound at night, made it possible.

According to a press release, the police nabbed Lakshmanan (20) of Valasaravakkam at 2 a.m. when he tried to flee on seeing a patrol in Kattupakkam on Saturday morning.

Lakshmanan had stolen a motorcycle from a house on Buckingham Road, Karayanchavadi, Poonamallee at 1.30 a.m.

Lakshmanan was remanded to judicial custody.
