Refuting the allegation that his party was less strident while criticising the ruling AIADMK, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday said his party was driven by the single-minded pursuit of providing an alternative to both the AIADMK and the DMK in Tamil Nadu.

“The big mistake we made was when we decided to align with the AIADMK-BJP combine in the 1998 Lok Sabha polls. If we had projected ourselves as an alternative we would have achieved long ago what we seek to achieve now,” he said while launching Anbumani--For Change, an election campaign integrated mobile application.

He also made it clear that the PMK would lead the front and all political parties including the BJP was welcome to join it.

Asked why had chosen not to write to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa demanding prohibition while he had written two letters to DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin, Mr Anbumani said it was the DMK that had promised to implement prohibition after failing to do the same when it was in power. “But we have not spared the ruling AIADMK. In all these years we have launched many agitations against the government and anyone who had attended our meetings would know how we have been critical of the AIADMK government," he said.

Explaining the features of the mobile application, he said besides offering details about the PMK and its Chief Ministerial candidate, it would have schedules of events and meetings organised by the party for the next two months.
