A burglar broke into an apartment complex in Mylapore and stole gold jewellery on Monday afternoon.

The incident took place at Bethel Illam around 1 p.m on Mandaveli Lane. “The burglar first struck at the ground floor and removed the latch, while leaving the lock intact. Jewellery worn by a baby in the house was stolen,” an investigating policeman said.

The burglar then broke into three houses on the first floor, but was unable to lay his hands on valuables. A police officer said that they were trying to get hold of visuals captured by a closed circuit television camera located at the street corner. Mylapore police are investigating.
