Man asphyxiated inside car

A 40-year-old man was found dead in a car at Pallavaram on Friday morning. According to police sources, a Tata Indica car was parked behind the compound wall of Pallavaram post office building from Thursday night.

On seeing the car parked with a man inside for a very long time, onlookers became suspicious and informed the police. When they broke open the door, the police found the body of the driver.

Based on the driving licence found in his shirt pocket, the police identified the deceased as Mohammed Ismail (40) from Sankarankoil in Tirunelveli.  

Police said Mohammed would have slept with the air-conditioning on and died due to asphyxiation.

The body was shifted to the Tambaram Taluk Government Hospital in Chromepet.

The Pallavaram police registered a case of suspicious death. The post-mortem report revealed so signs of foul play and the victim is likely to have died of asphyxiation, said a senior police official.
