Karunanidhi seeks status of GIM investment proposals

Six months after Chief Minister Jayalalithaa announced that her government had received investment proposals to the tune of Rs. 2.42 lakh crore during the Global Investors Meet (GIM), DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Thursday sought to know how many of those proposals have actually materialised so far.

Referring to Ms. Jayalalithaa’s statement at GIM that investment proposals to tune of Rs. 2,42,160 crore were received and statutory clearances for each of the proposals would be granted within 30 days, Mr. Karunanidhi said it has been six months since her statement and asked, “How many clearances have been granted to the investments as promised?”

‘CM should explain’

He sought an explanation from the Chief Minister as to how much investments have actually come, how many industries have commenced operations and employment generated so far.
