Kamal is 'Nadigar Thilakam' of our generation: Rajini

Congratulatory messages pour in from political leaders and actors through tweets to Kamal Haasan. Many from the film fraternity greet him personally.

Their friendship dates back to nearly four decades and ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth made it known to the world about the professional respect he has for Kamal Haasan when he called the Ulaganayakan , the ''Nadigar Thilakam'' of our generation.

In a tweet on Monday morning, Rajinikanth said, “My heartfelt congratulations to the ''Nadigar Thilakam'' of our generation, my dear friend, Chevalier Kamal Haasan.”

The tweet was retweeted 3,600 times and liked 7,700 times. Kamal Haasan has been awarded the Chevalier de L'Ordre Arts et Lettres (The Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government.

Congratulatory messages also poured in from political leaders and actors through tweets to Kamal Haasan.

“Congratulations @iKamalHaasan for the Chevalier de L'Ordre Arts et Lettres award! What an achievement!,” the U.S. Consulate in Chennai tweeted.

Actor Sivakumar and his sons, actors Suriya and Karthi, met Kamal Haasan and congratulated him.

Grand event planned

Other members of the film fraternity and members of the South Indian Artists Association, led by actor Vishal, also met Kamal Haasan. The association plans to hold a grand event to felicitate the actor, a release said.

DMK chief M. Karunanidhi, Union Minister of State for Culture Mahesh Sharma, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, and CPI(M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan were among those who extended their wishes to the actor.
