J&K to model zoos on Vandalur

The State of Jammu and Kashmir will have two zoological parks closely on the lines of Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur, Chennai.

Addressing mediapersons after a visit to the zoo on the outskirts of the city, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment Choudary Lal Singh said the two zoos would be set up in the State where there is great potential for tourism.

He said the State government is looking at the facility as a method of educating the people of the State and visitors from other regions.

He also said officials from the State were accompanying him to study the management of the zoo and animal upkeep.
