Hitesh, a six-year-old boy, studying in Eurokids, Perambur, as part of Daan Utsav, made sandwiches and shared it with the children of Don Bosco School at Vyasarpadi, as part of Daan Utsav last year.

The Euro Kids group, their 39 centres all over the State, would be involved in the joy of giving in a bigger way this year.

Seethal Aacha, Academic Coordinator, Euro Kids, said the institution would be involved in Daan Utsav-2015 to be held from October 2 to 8 by opening collection centres in all the 39 branches for citizens to contribute toys, books and stationery.

The organisers have roped in volunteers comprising educational institutions, non-governmental organisations and commercial establishments.

Narendra Malhotra, CEO, Oriental Cuisines, pointing out their long association with Daan Utsav, said being engaged in commercial activities throughout the year, this was one celebration they waited eagerly to give something back to the community. This year, they would make the longest photo cake in the city featuring award-winning Tamil films. The cake would be cut at Forum Mall, Vadapalani, on October 4.

Various programmes

Similarly, thousands of volunteers of EKAM Foundation, Talent Quest of India and The Weeks Agriculturist, would be involved in this year’s Daan Utsav celebration.

The volunteers would be helping the community by creating health awareness, organising school-cleaning programmes and working for farmers during weekends.
