Carnatic music jam session today

A Carnatic music jam session will be held on Tuesday from 5.30 p.m. at the Mylapore Fine Arts Club on Oliver Road. Samudhaaya Foundation of carnatic vocalist Sudha Ragunathan and Carnatica Archival Centre founded by musician K.N. Shashikiran are celebrating International Yoga Day and World Music day.

The event will feature swara jam, raga, viruttam jam and laya jam. Endowment awards will be presented to disabled musicians and music instrument manufacturers. Mr. Shashikiran said that the celebrations will begin at 6 a.m. at the Marina with Namasankeerthanam, yoga and Sargam Choir by school children. Events will be held at Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore (7 a.m.), Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School, K.K. Nagar (9.15 a.m.), Dr. MGR Janaki College of Arts and Science (10.30 a.m.) Vishranthi Old Age home (12.30 p.m. ) and Ethiraj College for Women (2.30 p.m. ).
