Two more from Tiruvallur admitted

January 14, 2017 01:25 am | Updated 01:25 am IST - CHENNAI:

A child and an adult from Erikarai, Pudu Gummidipoondi were admitted to hospital on Friday, taking the total number of admissions from the village to 28 — six adults and 22 children.

“All of them, including Lokesh, the child who tested positive for H1N1, are stable,” said J. Prabakaran, deputy director of health services, Tiruvallur.

Director of Public Health K. Kolandaisamy said many of those hospitalised may be discharged in about four days.

“All other cases were negative for H1N1 but we are treating everyone with antiviral and antibacterial medication,” Dr. Kolandaisamy said.

The village was hit by a series of respiratory infections last week, leading to the death of three residents. All residents have been evacuated and given accommodation at the village community hall and ICDS centre.

Dr. Kolandaisamy said the village health nurse, as well as health staff working in the village, had also been administered with Oseltamivir (Tamiflu).
