Police raid two salons, spa centre, rescue 12 women

The Anti-Vice Squad(AVS) of City Police have raided two beauty parlours and a spa centre in the city and rescued 12 women who were forced into sex work under the guise of working as staff in those centres.

Police arrested three brokers, including a woman, who forced the women into sex work.

Police said followin a tip-of, a special team raided ‘Blue Bells Family Salon’ in Kamarajar Colony, Kodambakkam and found that Suryakumaran(28)was running a commercial sex racket in the salon.

The Police rescued five women from there. After arresting Suryakumaran, the police are searching for Srija, a key accused in connection with the case.

Similarly, the special team under the Inspector of AVC mounted surveillance over Mokshaa Beauty Parlour in Virugambakkam and confirmed that the place was being used for flesh trade.

Following a raid on the premises, the police apprehended Pavithra (24), a broker and rescued four women from her custody while three more accused who acted brokers went absconding.

Three rescued

The police team raided ‘Ryan Spa’ in Cauvery Complex, Nungambakkam, and arrested C. Sivakumar (37) of T. Nagar who had forced the women into prostitution. Three women were rescued from there.

As per the order of a Metropolitan Magistrate Court, three accused, including the woman, were lodged at Central Prison while the 12 women who were rescued were sent to Government Home for Women in Mylapore.
