Biopic on Paralympic high jumper coming

The journey of Mariyappan Thangavelu, the Indian Paralympic high jumper who won gold medal at the 2016 Paralympic Games will now be made into a movie by Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth Dhanush.

Titled ‘Mariyappan,’ the movie, which is set for a 2017 release, will chronicle the life of the 21-year-old athlete from Salem who went on to win accolades for the country. The movie is a bilingual in Tamil and English. While Sean Roaldan has been roped in to compose music for the movie, cinematographer R. Velraj and film-maker Raju Murugan are also a part of the team working on the film.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan released the poster of the movie on Twitter and congratulated Ms. Aishwaryaa on the venture.

She has earlier directed two tamil movies — 3 starring her husband, actor Dhanush, and Vai Raaja Vai starring Gautham Karthik.

Recently, she had penned a book, Standing on an apple box, which she said was her memoirs.
