Youth run over by train

A 24-year-old youth was run over by a train near Srirampura railway gate on Thursday evening.

The deceased, Mani Maran, a resident of Ramakrishna Hegde Nagar and a B.Com student in a private college at K.R. Puram, was returning home when the accident occurred around 4.30 p.m. He was crossing the railway track close to his home, the police said.

The incident came to light when passers-by noticed the body and alerted the Byappanahalli railway police.

The police suspect that he may have been listening to music, and failed to notice the train.
