Uncertainty drives students to give NEET 2 a shot

With uncertainty over whether government quota seats in private colleges will come under the Common Entrance Test pool and low CET ranking, many students who decided to skip writing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2 have now reconsidered and have registered for the exam on July 24.

Srikanth Reddy, a student of Sri Gururaghavendra Parents and Teachers’ Association under Deeksha Network and a medical seat aspirant, has got a seat rank of 1,196. “If it was certain that government quota seats in private colleges will be under CET pool, I would be confident and not take NEET. But, now I will appear for NEET 2 as I do not want to get a seat in a lesser known college,” he said.

Diya Jayanth, a medical seat aspirant said, “Every week, there is a new twist in how we can obtain a medical seat, and it is disturbing for us. It will be hard to prepare all over again for NEET 2, but I have decided to give it a shot,” she said. Another student, Hemanth Janakiraman, a class 12 ISC student and a medical aspirant, is so confused that he is planning to study psychology if he is not able to get a medical seat. It just seems like obtaining a medical seat is difficult this year; it seems like a political tug-of-war between different stakeholders.
