Take action against ‘dacoit’ V-Cs, says HDK

August 20, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:05 am IST - BENGALURU:

Reacting to Minister for Higher Education Basavaraj Rayaraddi’s statement that some Vice-Chancellors were like “dacoits”, JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy said on Friday they were “recovering the amount paid for being appointed to the posts”.

He asked Mr. Rayaraddi what steps the government had taken to prevent Vice-Chancellors from becoming “dacoits”. He said there were no uniform criteria for the selection of V-Cs and alleged that those who paid the highest amount were appointed.

The multi-crore scam in Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, was an example of V-Cs “looting money”, he alleged.

He also hit out at Home Minister G. Parameshwara for not recommending 38 senior police officers’ for promotion as IPS officers. As some officers close to the Home Minister’s Advisor M. Kempaiah were not selected, the list was put on hold, he alleged.
