Students unhappy with new engineering seat allotment schedule

July 14, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 18, 2016 01:32 pm IST - BENGALURU:

The revised seat allotment schedule for the second round of Common Entrance Test (CET) counselling has not brought much cheer to engineering seat aspirants as the allotment will be done after students surrender the seats obtained during the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) counselling.

Deadline pushed

Because of the delay in announcing the dates for the second round of counselling under CET, COMEDK has extended by two days the last date to surrender engineering seats. A COMEDK notification issued on Wednesday stated that candidates who had taken engineering seats in the first round could surrender them by July 17, instead of the earlier deadline of July 15.

Rajesh S., an engineering seat aspirant, said, “We will still have to end up paying three times the fee and pick seats under COMEDK quota as the last date to surrender seats is July 17. We will know the seats allotted under CET only on July 18.”

Many seat aspirants fear that medical aspirants may have blocked engineering seats as there is still uncertainty over the medical seats they would obtain through their National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) scores.

Difficult schedule

July 14 to 17: Provision to modify options under CET counselling

July 17: Last date to surrender engineering seats under COMEDK

July 18: Publication of allotment results

July 19 to 20: Confirmation of choices, payment of fees and downloading of admission order

July 21: Last date for reporting to college
