City Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi denied permission for the “Kiss of love” programme scheduled for November 30.

Mr. Reddi said the applicant, Rachita Taneja, not only failed to provide details of the programme but aso declined to own responsibility for any eventuality.

The police, after analysing the same programme, which earlier took place in Delhi and Kochi, have seen that providing permission for the programme will lead to a law-and-order situation and it would also be in violation of the obscenity laws under IPC, he said.

Taking all into consideration, permission has been denied under the Karnataka Police Act.

He said the police has even issued notice to Srirama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik seeking explanation about his statement that giving permission to organise the programme would lead to a situation endangering law and order.

We will seek an undertaking from him to ensure law and order is maintained, he added.
