Narrow escape for couple

December 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 24, 2016 02:21 pm IST - Bengaluru:

It was a narrow escape for Hemanth Kumar, a businessman from R.T. Nagar and his wife Savitha, who were returning to the city in a private taxi after visiting their relatives in Devanahalli on Sunday.

The couple, who sustained multiple injuries, are admitted to a private hospital and are said to be out of danger. The couple told the police that they noticed the car coming towards them menacingly in a filmy style and collided before they could react.

Quoting Mr. Hemanth, the police said they blacked out and gained conscious only at the hospital.

Three other persons including the driver of their car were taken to a private hospital and the police are waiting to get information about them.

Following the accident, the traffic on the Allalasandra flyover on Ballari Road, which connects to Kempegowda International Airport, was disrupted for over an hour as a large number of vehicles became stranded on both sides of the road.

The police had to summon cranes to pull the mangled vehicles to the side before clearing the busy road for traffic.
