An Assistant Sub-Inspector and his wife lost their lives after an MUV knocked down their scooter near Basavapura on the outskirts of Ramanagar on Friday morning.

Nagaraj (52) was posted in Ramanagar before being promoted and transferred to Kumbalagodu a few days ago.

Along with his wife Uma (43), he was heading to Ramanagar to hand over charge to his colleague when the accident occurred.

The MUV was coming towards the city. The driver lost control and jumped the divider before colliding with the scooter. Passers-by rushed shifted the injured to the hospital where the doctors declared that the couple were brought dead. The Ramanagar police have taken up a case against the driver and are waiting for him to recover to question him.
