The gates to the Kempegowda Metro station were closed for 15 minutes around 7.15 a.m. on Monday morning as alert staff noticed light smoke emanating from one of the electrical switches in the station.

As a precautionary measure, gates were closed to travelling passengers and trains did not halt at the station for a period of 15 minutes between 7.15 and 7.30 a.m.

Services were resumed and continued normally after the issue was found and fixed. “Emergency power block was taken as precaution for isolating one switch because of light smoke. The delay caused was for 15 minutes,” said U.A. Vasanth Rao, Spokesperson, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
