Bad weather in Mangaluru forced the authorities to recall a flight to Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and divert two others on Sunday afternoon.

Bengaluru–Mangaluru flight (9W815), operated by Jet Airways, which departed from the KIA around 3 p.m. and was scheduled to land at Mangaluru International Airport at 4.10 p.m., was turned back owing to heavy rain in the coastal city.

Similarly, Mumbai–Mangaluru Jet Airways flight (9W431), scheduled to land at 4 p.m., was diverted to the KIA.

An Air India Express flight (IX 822) from Doha, which was scheduled to arrive in Mangaluru at 4 p.m., landed at 5.30 pm. The flight was diverted to another airport before it landed in Mangaluru, according to J.T. Radhakrishna, director of the airport.

The two Jet Airways flights eventually landed in Mangaluru around 6 p.m. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U.T. Khader was onboard the flight which was recalled to the KIA, according to sources.
