The police have cracked the gruesome murder of a man whose body was found at a garbage dump in Kalasipalya.

A couple has been arrested in connection with the crime.

The police had found a headless, butchered body on Friday and photographs were published in newspapers. This helped them identify the deceased as Samiullah (35), a resident of Denkanikottai, who worked as a lorry driver.

The police said that once the victim was identified, his call records were checked, which revealed that he was in constant touch with a woman identified as Reshma. Sources said that Reshma wanted to end her affair with Samiullah after her husband, Muktiyar, got wind of it. She alleged that Samiullah had been harassing her and continued to visit her. When she told her husband about it, Mukhtiyar decided to murder Samiullah.

The police said that Reshma lured the deceased to her home and the couple stabbed him to death. Mukhtiyar later butchered the body and disposed it off in Kalasipalya.
