Fairoz Pasha was heading to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike office in Malleswaram to collect dues of around Rs. 5 lakh for supplying mid-day meals to schools.

His brother Hibgatullah told The Hindu that Fairoz supplied meals through Ashakirana Janabhivruddhi Samsthe and had not been paid for over seven months. “After much running from pillar to post, an officer had promised to release the money on Monday,” Mr. Hibgatullah said.

Mr. Pasha had dropped his youngest son at a tutorial near the accident spot before heading to Malleswaram.
