Byrati Basavaraj, Somashekar get BDA membership as ‘sop’

June 26, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:55 pm IST - BENGALURU:

To douse dissidence in the party, the government has nominated two Congress MLAs S.T. Somashekar and Byrati Basavaraj as members of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).

More legislators are likely to be appointed as chairpersons of government-owned boards and corporations.

Earlier “loyal” to the Chief Minister, both Mr. Basavaraj and Mr. Somashekar had joined hands with the rebel group after the recent reshuffle of the Cabinet, and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s latest move is seen as aimed at pacifying the legislators.
