A random check conducted by the MICO Layout police led to the arrest of a habitual bike lifter, who would steal high-end bikes and use them for drag racing and wheeling.

The accused would also post video clips on his Facebook account and share the stolen bikes with his friends.

The MICO Layout police, who were keeping a close watch after incidents of bike thefts, intercepted a person who was riding one of the stolen bike worth over Rs. 2 lakh.

Based on his information, the police arrested Prajwal (19), a resident of Electronic City and a habitual bike lifter, and his associate Jaman Sharieff (21).

Prajwal was arrested by the Tilak Nagar police last year in a similar case. He got bail recently and managed to steal around nine bikes worth Rs. 16 lakh using duplicate keys, Inspector B.K. Shekhar said.

The duo have been booked under various sections of the IPC and remanded to judicial custody.
