Bengaluru: A 20-year-old courier boy was killed and his friend sustained injuries on Tuesday evening when they fell from the motorcycle in Ramamurthy Nagar. They were startled when sparks came out of the mobile phone that the courier boy had wedged between his shoulder and ear.

While the deceased Anil Kumar succumbed to head injuries at the hospital, the pillion rider Karthik (18) is undergoing treatment for his injuries.

According to the police, the duo was returning home from work. They suspect that Anil Kumar was talking on the mobile phone while riding the bike. He was startled when sparks came from the phone and he lost his balance.

The duo fell from the bike and sustained severe head injuries. Both were not wearing helmets.

Passers-by rushed them to a near-by hospital where the doctor declared Anil Kumar as brought dead.

The Ramamurthy Nagar police have taken up a case.
