ATM kiosk attack: City police awaiting turn to grill suspect

Police teams from several cities are in Chittoor seeking his custody in connection with various crimes

Bengaluru: The city police are likely to move court for body warrant of Madhukar Reddy in connection with the attack on a woman bank employee in an ATM kiosk on J.C. Road in November 2013.

Sources said that Reddy is wanted for several crimes allegedly committed in Kerala, Telangana and Karnataka. Police teams from various places are in Chittoor to secure his custody to continue their respective probes.

The city police team, which reached Chittoor on Saturday, cross-checked CCTV image and fingerprints obtained from the crime scene. On Sunday, the Chitoor police produced Reddy before a magistrate and applied for five days’ custody.

Andhra Pradesh police had nabbed Reddy from Chittoor. During questioning, he claimed to committing crimes in AP, Kerala and even the attack on Jyothi Uday in at ATM kiosk at N.R. Square in Bengaluru.

A source in the city police said, “He would be brought to the city for a spot inspection.”

A senior police officer said, "We are confident that the court in AP will admit our plea and grant his body warrant. We are planning to bring him to Bengaluru with foolproof security.”
