750 CCTV cameras more to monitor law and order

The city will soon have 750 CCTV cameras more that will be installed at sensitive junctions to monitor law and order at a cost of Rs. 43 crore, Home Minister G. Parameshwar has said.

Speaking after a review meeting at the Police Commissioner’s office on Monday, he said that 153 cameras have been installed at sensitive areas in the central division already, and these could be monitored at the station-level as well as at the command centre at the Police Commissioner’s office, he said .

The facility for the toll-free 100 at the police control room has been upgraded with each telephone lines having a capacity of receiving 16 calls at a time and redress four calls.

This facility is to provide quick response and relief to the callers who are in distress, he said.
