The blowing of conch and beating of drums gelled well with the playing of ‘damarukam’ as a group of children swayed to the fusion of the contemporary and classical tunes in the form of ‘Panchamukha Siva’. A few minutes later, the viewers were treated to ventriloquism and mimicry show ‘Donald Duck’ followed by ‘Sri Venkateswara Suprabhata Vaibhavam’ dance ballet, capturing the rapt attention of the audience.
At Gurajada Kalakshetram open auditorium, as many as 300 children showcased their skills nurtured during the month-long VUDA summer camp, hosted by VUDA Children Club, here. The valedictory function that lasted for a couple of hours saw around 300 young participants thumping their feet to different dance forms like classical, folk, and western.
VUDA Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj, who attended the programme, felicitated teachers and dance trainers, including S. Murali Babu, Nirmala, R. Naveena, K. Amrutha and K.S. Prakash, before giving away prizes and certificates to winners and participants. “VUDA has been instrumental in bringing out the creativity among children for several years. In future, many such entertaining events are in store,” the VUDA Vice-Chairman said.
Impressive showInvolving 75 young ones in a ballet where Gods and goddesses come together to wake up Lord Vishnu through ‘Sri Venkateswara Suprabhata Vaibhavam’ appeared to be a unique presentation.
The venue also saw display of pot painting, glass painting and artworks done by participants. Students of GVMC High School and NMCH School performed western dance. Among others, District Revenue Officer M. Venkateswara Rao, VUDA secretary G.C. Kishore Kumar and its public relations officer B. Prabhakar Reddy were present.
